Caerllysi Music have released the latest Colossal Concept 2 cd Project from Antony Kalugin of Karfagen and Hoggwash fame.
Antony has brought together seventeen of the most talented musicians in the Ukraine and created a musical masterpiece.
I have been lucky enough to watch this project grow from the beginning, with well over 96 minutes of music centering around three epic tracks which total more than 63 minutes alone, the album crosses all the musical genres in a most rewarding and enjoyable way.
It starts off musically where Hoggwash and the last Karfagen albums finished, the project subject is about growing up and the childhood innocence that we hold deep within us.
Links to mp3s are below, which are cross section of what Sunchild is about.
The double cd will also include some surprises and hopefully some camera footage and will be sold at a sensible price.
So as Antony says, "be a child with an open heart" ENJOY FOLKS AND BE WARNED TOO MUCH GOOD MUSIC CAN BE ADDICTIVE!!!!
Will, Caerllysi Music.
Peter J says :
Wow, wotta release! The Gnomon has been knocking me & Terri out for a few days… tremendously fresh prog with cool twists and turns that keeps the interest up on repeated listens. Fantastic work, men! Finally, from the Ukraine comes Sunchild! This band is the same line-up as Hoggwash minus Will Mackie from Wales. (Will is in co-producer’s chair.) The name of this release is “The Gnomon” and it tells the story of the innocence and imagination of childhood. This is fresh prog at its best… I score a 10 on the Prog-O-Meter ™! This 2 disk release is filled with inventive songwriting and eclectic instrumentation. There are several epics plus some shorter tunes. In the song “Midnight Train” they manage to do what I have never heard… they sound like Salem Hill! A large part of this epic sounds like the lost song from “Be!” The brain child of this project is Antony Kalugin and Will told me he wanted him to have free rein on this project to so showcase his enormous talent. Antony is 28 years old and a true prodigy. This one is a keeper! In the Sunchild directory you will also find album art *and* two videos that were hiding on disk 2… for your viewing pleasure, download and enjoy! Ukrainian prog! The songwriting is top notch and musicianship is stellar. My only minor issue with The Gnomon is uneven vocal production. The gal singing and doing harms sounds very brittle and also (to my ears) a little more up front in the mix that the guy doing lead. To the instruments I can only say, perfect! Totally awesome release… thanks for sharing it Will. Antony, congratulations on a landmark recording! :~) Looking For The Signposts, Peter J peterj@verticalalignment.com Visit us and download free tunes from Vertical Alignment at these spots: Vertical Alignment on MySpace Vertical Alignment website |
